Forum Help
The JRA (JRA) Forum has been designed by Auckland web design company BKA Interactive to be as easy to use as possible. Adding your contribution (questions, comments, replies etc.) is easy – just type it directly below the other comments on the page! You do not have to register to view the information in the Forum, and you can even choose to ask your questions anonymously if you prefer.
See below for our Quick Use Guide and a Useful Features Guide, formatted in a “Frequently Asked Questions” style.
Quick Use Guide
Register for full participation!
Registering in our Forum gives you access to access to features such as being notified when someone else contributes to a topic you are interested in. There are two ways you can register:
Register Now
- Click here to go to the Registration page, which will ask you to enter your name, email address and a password. Accept the Terms of Service and click on “Register.”
- Our automated registration system will send you an email (to confirm your email address), and you will need to click on the link in the email to activate your account.
- You will then be taken to the JRA Forum homepage. Your account will be active, you will be logged in, and you will be able to start your own forum topics or reply to existing ones.
Register when you make your first post
- If you are browsing the Forum and would like to contribute to a topic, simply fill out the form at the bottom of the topic and click on “Reply to post”. You will then be given two options – either post your contribution anonymously (your email address will not be displayed), or Register now.
- If you choose to click on “Register” you will be asked to create a password for your account, and an email will be sent to you to activate your account. When you click on the activation link in the email, your contribution will be posted under your new account.
Make an anonymous post
If you would prefer not to register yourself in our Forum, you can make an anonymous post if you wish. Simply type in your contribution in the box at the end of any topic, add a display name and your real email address (this will not be made public in any way), and click on “Reply to Post”. In the second step, choose to “Post Anonymously”. Your contribution will be made, and will be attributed to your display name, as a “Guest”. We do, however, encourage everyone to register on the Forum! (see the Useful Features Guide below for benefits available to registered users).
No one is talking about what I’m interested in – how do I start a topic?
- From the JRA Forum homepage, choose a suitable forum to put your topic in. For example, if you want to start a discussion on how to deal with a low survey score for the question “Poor performance is not tolerated in this organisation,” the most suitable forum to put this topic would probably be “Common Workplace Issues.” If you don’t think any of the existing forums are suitable for your topic, email forum@johnrobertson.co.nz and ask JRA to add a suitable topic.
- Once you have selected a forum, click on “New Topic” to start a topic. Give the topic a suitable name so others can see what the topic is about. Then follow the instructions to start the new topic.

To use the notification feature, you must be logged in as a registered user when you make a post in the forum. Once you are logged in and make a post, there is a check box at the bottom of the screen that says “Notify me of replies.” If you check this box, you will be emailed every time someone responded to your post.
[Notification] I don’t want to make a post at the moment, but still want to be notified if other people add to a topic. How can I do this?
Log in to the Forum. When you view a topic, at the bottom of the page (below the posts other people have made) is a check box that says “Notify me by e-mail of replies.” All you need to do is check this box.
[Notification] How do I stop getting notification emails?
Log in to the Forum, and you will see a link called “Notification” at the top of the page. Click on this link and you will be taken to a page that lists the topics that you have elected to be notified about. You can remove notifications from here.
[Favourites] I want to easily find topics I’m interested in next time I visit, and I don’t want to be notified when people add to them. How can I do this?
- Log in to the Forum. When you view a topic, at the bottom of the page (below the posts other people have made) is a check box that says “This is a favourite topic.” All you need to do is check this box.
- Next time you visit the JRA Forum and log in, you can go to the “Favourites” link at the top of the page, and get quick access to those topics of interest.
