If your organisation takes our Demographic Reporting option, you can drill down into your survey results and view them by departments, teams, age, length of service – whatever you like. Your survey reports for your demographic groups (e.g. your Sales team) are comprehensive – the same level of detail as you get at the “Total Organisation” level. Sometimes, you may find that you have some demographic groups that you want to investigate in more detail. Our unique online Cross Tabbing functionality allows you to create your own customised group of respondents, based on a particular combination of characteristics you specify. There are two reasons why you might be interested in this functionality: 1) Cross tabulation – in its truest form, cross tabbing is about identifying a group of respondents that share a particular combination of demographic responses. Example: You have 40 people who have responded that they are in “Sales”, but you need some more information about this large group of people – in particular, you want to know what your most recently-hired Sales people think. You can use the Cross Tab Manager to create a group of respondents who are in “Sales” and have been with your organisation for “Less than 12 months”. As long as at least 5 people fit this criteria, you can view their combined responses. 2) “Roll-ups” – a roll-up is when you combine the responses to two or more demographic options from the same question together. Example: You have the question “Where do you work in this organisation?” in your survey, and two options for people to select from are “Finance” and “HR”. At the end of the survey you find that you only got 3 responses from Finance and 2 from HR – not large enough to report on without breaching confidentiality. You can use the Cross Tab Manager to create a roll-up of Finance and HR together – 5 responses – and view those teams’ combined responses. Alternatively, you might want to do this because there is a single manager for Finance and HR, and that person wants to see the combined results. Further instructions on how to use cross tabbing can be viewed from within your survey reports, accessed from the "Cross Tab" button in the launchpad on the left hand side of your survey reporting. Confidentiality of respondents is assured - by default, we have determined that there must be at least 5 respondents in a cross tab group for you to be able to view their aggregated responses. If you are unsure or have any questions at all, please call one of the JRA team on (09) 378 2003 and we'll be happy to go over cross tabbing with you.
